Well hello there, friends!
That’s me. Just casually walking and trying not to spill my coffee as I try to smile pretty and look at the camera. My name’s Kendall and I am OBSESSED with creating a life that I love living! Who doesn’t want that? (I’m also a little obsessed with wine, but who’s judging?) I am 100% confident that this can be accomplished while being on a budget and I can’t wait to show you how.
I want to live a life that I am excited about. I want to wake up every morning stoked for what the day brings, and not just on a day that starts with an ‘S’. You see, my husband and I are on our own financial journey to transition from ballers on a budget to financial freedom.
Psst….You can read all about our debt-free journey and progress right here, which I update every month so you can follow right along on our journey with us!
We both came to a point in our lives where we were not happy with our current situation. Combined, we were actually making a pretty decent income. We finally came to the realization that we were making too much to be this broke. What were we doing wrong then?
- Living paycheck to paycheck
- Not tracking our spending
- In debt
- Always strapped for cash
To top it off, we had big dreams that we had no idea how to accomplish. Starting a family, paying off our debt, buying a home, becoming our own bosses and working from home…how in the world were we supposed to accomplish those things while living paycheck to paycheck?
That’s just about the time we realized that we needed to get ourselves on a good old-fashioned budget. And lemme tell you something, we did. And lemme tell you something else, it’s working!! Why didn’t we do this sooner?!
You can get the exact steps I used to pay off ALL of our credit card debt in just 11 short months (which totaled over $25,000!) by downloading my FREE eBook The Busy Girl’s Guide: 6 Simple Steps To Pay Off Credit Card Debt.
We are now paying off our loans, saving more money, easily tracking our expenses, and spending within our means. We see the light at the end of the tunnel! Can I get a hallelujah! Let me help you see the light, as well.
So Why The Blog Then?
Besides the fact that it’s actually pretty therapeutic to write out your thoughts while having a glass (or *ahem* three) of wine, I started this blog as a way to keep ourselves accountable and to encourage others in making small steps toward change. I want to share my journey and the tips and tricks I’ve learned along the way. I started this blog to let you know that you are not alone on this path. We are in this together!
You won’t find me writing from the stance of an expert who has it all figured out, but as an average
Joe Jane trying to find what works for her and her family.
Through methods that have worked for me, I will help encourage and motivate you to take control of your finances. We got this, yo!
What’s In A Name?
Perfect Cents Living (PCL, for short. Bonus points if you can throw up a gang sign with it) was created to let you know that budgeting, finances, saving money, and budget travel does not have to be hard. It’s so simple! And that’s the way I try to keep it here at PCL. Simple explanations of what works and what doesn’t.
I will help you make perfect sense of how to live well without breaking your budget. It’s also a little punny, if you ask me. 😉
Get To Know Me!
I am married to one hunk of a husband. He goes by the name of Mark but will answer to Babe. We live in a cute little beach town in San Diego County and we love it! Mark and I have known each other since elementary school and we are lucky enough to have that can’t-get-enough-of-each other, fun and playful kind of love (example: we have an ongoing pantsing game in our household. Currently the score is as follows – Mark: 78, Kendall: 2 1/2. I suck at this game). We also have a 180lb. Mastiff named Ronin who is our baby.
If you want to get even more up close and personal:
- I love wine.
- I believe my life would be complete if I could solely communicate using movie quotes and puns.
- My biggest pet peeve is table manners (seriously, just take off your hat and put your napkin on your lap. Also, for the love of all things, please chew with your mouth closed).
- I am always late.
- I have a sailor’s mouth.
- I have been taught 3 different times how to drive a stick shift and I still don’t get it.
- My husband and I have a “no phones” rule when spending time together.
- I stand strong in my belief that all sandwiches taste better with potato chips on them (Doritos, BBQ, any kind really).
- I believe peripheral vision exists to make it easier for women to do their makeup while driving 😉
- I’m obsessed with candles.
So, seriously if you’ve read this far we should probably get matching tattoos. #besties
Oh, and one last thing. Thanks for being here. I truly appreciate it…and you.
